Phase One P65+ Demo/Rental SALE

In order to make room for newer digital back systems in our rental dept., we have decided to put our current models up for sale. Up for grabs here is a Phase One P65+ digital back. This is a 60 megapixel full-frame 645 digital back with extremely high image quality. It is mated to an autofocus Hasselblad H2 body and comes with an HC 80mm f/2.8 lens. All Hasselblad HC lenses have leaf shutters so you can sync your flashes at up to 1/800 of a second.

The package includes batteries, charger, Firewire tether cable and most standard accessories. In addition, a Hasselblad 120 film magazine for the H2 body is also included. The kit is cosmetically in good condition with only a few minor scuffs and scratches on the body.

The Hasselblad H-body, viewfinder, film magazine and 80mm lens have a 30 day warranty, just like any other used item we sell, but the P65+ digital back will come with an extra few months, a total warranty of 90 days.

Phase One IQ140 Demo/Rental SALE

Up for sales is our ex-rental Phase One IQ140 with a 645 DF body and 80mm leaf-shutter lens offering flash-sync speeds up to a very fast 1/1600 second. The body has been upgraded with a 10K Li-Ion battery pack and charger, giving you many thousands of frames between charges for the DF body. The IQ140 is a 40 megapixel digital back (1.3x crop-factor from 645) with an ISO range of 50-800, and in reduced resolution Sensor+ mode, up to ISO 3200. The IQ140 is one of the latest generation of Phase One backs with a "Retina" resolution touch screen and a truly well designed and intuitive touch interface.

The IQ140 digital back with 645DF is a Value-Added bundle with all standard accessories. Beau Photo will provide a 90 day warranty on the digital back. The 645DF body and 80mm lens will have a 30 day warranty. The original plastic screen protector is still on the LCD so that should be pristine, however the body and back do have a few small nicks and scuffs as you can tell on the photo.

FUSION 2015 is just around the corner

Fusion is back for the 5th year and not only are we continuing to grow, we’re also on the move – we’re taking over the new and beautiful Anvil Centre in New Westminster. For the second year we’re teaming up with the Professional Photographers of Canada BC division as part of their weekend “PHOTOGraphie” event. PHOTOGraphie is British Columbia's only professional photography festival. The festival’s purpose is to inspire and share the value of photography through education, gallery exhibitions and salon competition.

 The scope of FUSION 2015 is to not only focus on the latest in DSLR video but also to include many aspects of still photography including lectures, demos and even a round-table discussion.

This year we will have 12 amazing speakers, each presenting 90 minute talks/Demo sessions running throughout the day. There will be a wide range of topics presented; from fine Art Digital Printing, Fashion and Still life Photography, the ins and outs of Destination Wedding Photography as well as Audio for film and Video, and Documentary film making, just to name a few. You are guaranteed to come away having learned something if you attend this year’s show. Phase One - Capture One Pro 7 sale!

If you haven’t tried a current version of Capture One, you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl. A trial version can be downloaded here: Capture One Pro 7 Trial. Until the end of March, we have a sale on in-stock copies for a mere $225… regular price is $299.

Capture One has evolved substantially over the last few years and not only does the present version offer the same excellent workflow, colour fidelity and amazing skin-tones that Capture One has always been known for, but there are now image database tools with image management similar to Adobe Lightroom, an incredibly well implemented set of perspective correction tools for architectural work, a superb lens correction module and much more.

In addition, if you are a Fujifilm X-system shooter, using the unique, moiré resistant but “hard-to-demosaic” X-Trans sensor, then Capture One deserves a good, long look too. While Adobe raw conversions from X-Trans sensors have come a long way in the last year, you will still be able to extract far more fine detail with many other raw converters like Capture One Pro, especially in shadow areas.

While there are other programs that offer excellent X-Trans raw conversions, like Iridient Developer and PhotoNinja, neither of these offers a full package that can completely replace Adobe Lightroom like Capture One is able to. In addition, those other programs do not offer anywhere near the same breadth of versatility that Capture One offers, like the aforementioned perspective and lens correction tools, the ability to act as an image database programs etc. In addition, the colour reproduction you get from Capture One is top notch, whether you shoot with a digital back, a digital SLR or a Fujifilm camera.

Phase One®'s FlexAdaptor™ is a versatile sliding adaptor that allows Phase One's single shot direct digital imaging systems, the Phase One H 5, the Phase One H 10 and the Phase One H 20, to be mounted on various 4" x 5" view cameras from Sinar, Horseman, Cambo, Linhof, Toyo, and Arca Swiss
Once mounted, you can choose to shoot only once like you normally would with the Phase One H 5, the Phase One H 10 or Phase One H 20. Or you can choose to take two or three overlapping shots and stitch them together by software. The final result is a high resolution, panoramic image. Please note that Phase One H 20 only allows up to two overlapping shots.

Announced! Phase One 645DF+ & New 28mm Lens

Phase One’s new 645DF+ is very similar to the 645DF but offers a few very important improvements. Firstly, it comes with a new Li-Ion rechargeable battery system which promises a whopping 10,000 frames per charge! Note that this is for the body, not the digital back. However compared to the poor battery life that the AA cells provided on the 645DF, this is a very welcome addition! Note that owners of the current 645DF can order in a similar Ejji battery system for their body, which comes with two 10,000 shot battery packs, and a charger, for only $549. The second big improvement on the 645DF+ is the addition of an AF micro-adjustment feature. This allows you to fine-tune the autofocus for perfect results with those very demanding 60 and 80 megapixel digital backs. Lastly are significant changes that are not so visible: there have been lots of internal mechanical upgrades in the 645DF+ to provide better reliability, durability and uptime compared to previous 645 bodies. The new 645DF+ body will be priced at about $6,000 and it will be available bundled with Phase One’s excellent IQ series of digital back.

Secondly, Phase One announced a new Schneider 28mm f/4.5 leaf-shutter lens. This new lens is reputed to be razor sharp, edge-to-edge, and will offer flash-sync speeds up to 1/1600 sec- ond with its built-in leaf shutter. The new 28mm joins the rest of the Schneider LS lens range for the 645DF, including a 55mm LS f/2.8, a 110mm LS f/2.8, a 150mm LS f/2.8 and a 240mm LS f/4.5.
