Rent Me! Drop it MODERN Swanky

Cool!  Haute!  Sassy!  Foppish!  Swanky!

All of the above words can be used to describe Drop it MODERN's Swanky backdrop.  Swanky features a eye-catching color scheme that is sure to turn heads. With a hint of sass and a twist of playfulness, the pop star pink and silvery gray couple together well to create a stunning backdrop. It’s the perfect statement for your business if you are looking to drum up some new clients, and turn some heads while doing it. We love Swanky because it gives the unique, vibrant, and modern edge photographers are looking for. It’s a backdrop filled with spunk, personality, and individuality.

Eagles & Owls, Oh My!

Winter is a great time for photographing birds, and coincidentally, it also is a great time to rent a telephoto lens to take photos of those birds! We have a number of telephoto lenses ranging from the run of the mill Canon/Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 IS/VR to the super-telephoto class 500mm f4 lenses.  A longer lens allows you to "get closer" to an animal without disturbing it and disrupting its behaviour and will isolate the animal from the background so it's clearly visible in the frame.

* Special weekend rates: gear picked up on a Friday between 1pm ~ 5pm and returned the following Monday between 8:30am ~ 12pm are charged just a one day rate.

First Thoughts: Fujifilm X-Pro1 System

As mentioned in my previous blog posting, I have not yet had a chance to handle the camera, which will hopefully happen in the next few weeks. However I have handled it "virtually", by carefully watching all the online preview videos that I could find. This blog posting will just be some of the thoughts I had after watching those videos, and considering that I have been an X100 owner and have used the camera extensively under many different conditions, I think I can draw some useful conclusion based on what I saw...

NEW: Fujifilm X-Pro1

At the CES/PMA trade-show this week, Fujifilm announced the very interesting new X-Pro1 camera system. Although the following description certainly doesn't do justice to all of its new features, in many ways, you can think of it as a new, improved interchangeable lens version of the highly regarded X100.

I was meaning to blog about this camera on Monday already, but I've been fighting a bad cold all week and just never felt up to it after coming home from work. I never found the time at work either. Anyway, watch for my detailed "first thoughts" on the X-Pro1 in the next day or two. They unfortunately won't be based on actually handling the camera yet in person (like I was able to with the Nikon D4), but since I have been an enthusiastic X100 user since getting mine earlier last year, and after seeing numerous detailed videos online that walk through many of the X-Pro1's new features and its user-interface, I think I am reasonably qualified to give some initial impressions.

In the meantime, here are some links of interest, if you haven't seen them yet...
