Hasselblad H5D Demo Day

To see the latest H5D medium format digital system, drop by Beau Photo on February 5th between 4pm and 7pm. An H5D-50 body and various lenses will be available for you to try. Bring a blank CompactFlash card if you want to shoot some tests and take them back with you. In addition, if you bring a USB flash drive, we can give you a copy of Hasselblad's Phocus raw workflow software to use with the images you shot. However if you already have the latest versions of Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom, then they do an excellent job of converting Hasselblad raw files.

Please RSVP to register for the event by calling or emailing Mike Mander at 604-734-7771 or digital@beauphoto.com. Hope to see you there!

Arrived! Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R

Finally! We just got our first small shipment of the highly anticipated Fujifilm 14mm primes. Well, highly anticipated by some anyway and by me for sure! On the X-E1 and X-Pro1, this lens produces a field-of-view equivalent to a 21mm lens on a full-frame 35mm camera. These three lenses are spoken for, but I do hope we'll get some more very soon.

Preliminary tests show this lens to be extremely well corrected optically for distortion (straight lines stay straight) and they have seem to have virtually no chromatic aberrations either, meaning that software corrections will be minimal or not even required in most cases. This bodes well for corner sharpness and indeed my first few photos here in the store make me think that this will be one of the best ultra-wide primes out there, from a corner-to-corner sharpness standpoint. The lens sells for $899, so if you want to get in on one of the next shipments, call us up and pre-order your's soon...
